The stone of calm and sleep.
White with grey veins, howlite is a deeply calming stone. It’s said to be ideal against a racing mind and trouble falling asleep, and to soften impatience and anger. A nightstand stone par excellence.

Discovered in Canada in the 19th century by mineralogist Henry How, it’s so porous it’s often dyed blue to mimic turquoise — in its white form, it’s the stone of calm.

Set it on your nightstand, hold it for a few minutes before sleep, or keep it in a pocket when impatience rises. What matters isn't the stone itself, but the attention it invites you to bring to yourself: a crystal is an intention you hold in your hand.
Cleanse it under running water for a few minutes or with smoke (sage, palo santo), then recharge it overnight under the full moon or on a quartz cluster.
