Obsidian properties

It doesn’t flatter: it reveals. Save it for the moments you’re ready to see clearly.

History & origin

A volcanic glass formed by fast-cooling lava, obsidian was once used to make blades and mirrors. Mesoamerican peoples made it into scrying mirrors — hence its nickname, “mirror of the soul”.

Who it's for

For sincere inner work, cutting heavy ties, or protecting yourself deeply.

Using it day to day

Hold it during introspection or honest journaling, keep it close in times of big change — but take breaks: it’s an intense stone. What matters isn't the stone itself, but the attention it invites you to bring to yourself: a crystal is an intention you hold in your hand.

Cleansing & recharging

Cleanse it under running water for a few minutes or with smoke (sage, palo santo), then recharge it overnight under the full moon or on a quartz cluster.

"A crystal doesn't do the work for you — it reminds you, in the palm of your hand, of what you've chosen to listen to. 🐑"
