BaZi, also called the Four Pillars of Destiny, is a Chinese birth-chart tradition that organises the year, month, day and hour of birth into heavenly stems and earthly branches. The resulting pattern is used symbolically to discuss elements, cycles, temperament and the balance between different kinds of energy.
A BaZi reading is not a fixed destiny and it does not scientifically predict success, health or wealth. Its value is interpretive: it can give you a language for thinking about timing, strengths and recurring tensions. Keep practical evidence and personal choice at the centre of any decision.

Bazi, also called the Four Pillars of Destiny, builds four pairs of Chinese characters from the year, month, day and hour of birth. Each pillar has a heavenly stem and an earthly branch, and the reading examines the balance of the five elements across them.
The day pillar is traditionally treated as the self. Practitioners look at which elements are abundant, which are missing, and how the luck pillars, ten-year periods, interact with that balance.
You need the date and the hour of birth, converted to the Chinese solar calendar, which is why Bazi charts often differ from a naive conversion of your Western birthday. The hour matters because it forms a whole pillar.
If you do not know your birth hour, a three-pillar reading is possible but the tradition treats it as incomplete. We would rather tell you that than quietly fill in a guess.
Bazi is an interpretive tradition with centuries of commentary, not a tested predictive method. Two practitioners reading the same chart will often emphasise different elements, and the schools disagree on method.
So we will not claim accuracy. What the system does offer is an unusually structured vocabulary for describing temperament and timing, which is why it has lasted.
