The Circle

Wholeness with no beginning and no end.

The circle is the simplest and oldest sacred shape — a single line with no start and no finish. It stands for wholeness, unity, eternity and the cycles that turn through everything.

What it means

A circle has no corners to divide it and no end to reach. That is why so many traditions use it for the infinite, the divine, and the turning of seasons, moons and lives — everything that comes round again.

How it’s used

Draw one when you want to feel held or whole. Sit inside an imagined circle for protection, or simply notice the circles around you — the sun, the moon, a ring, a cycle — as small reminders that you belong to something continuous.

Frequently asked

What does the circle symbolise?

Wholeness, unity, eternity and cycles — a line with no beginning or end, used across cultures for the infinite and the divine.

Why is the circle the base of sacred geometry?

Nearly every sacred figure — the Vesica Piscis, Seed and Flower of Life — is built by overlapping circles, so the circle is the seed of them all.
